The summer season is well underway.  The weather has been very cooperative which makes swimming, boating and playing on the beach perfect for all BHVA residents and their guests.

You have probably noticed that the beach has been busier than usual this summer. With that in mind your BHVA Board has established a sub-committee under the Steering Committee to look into all beach and related dock issues. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Larry Hubler (936-0238), and he will direct your questions to Bristol Harbour Resorts or the BHVA Board.

Recently, we received a ruling on the second part of our discrimination complaint.  The complaint that was filed with the HUD office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity has been closed based on information from the New York State Division of Human Rights.  BHVA’s cost for legal fees for this complaint is over $15,000.

The road construction and paving of Spyglass Hill is nearing completion. This has been an extensive project and has taken more time than estimated.  I want to thank Leo Raab, our facilities chairman, Dan Stephens, BHVA maintenance supervisor and John Villnave, project engineer for working with the residents on everyday problems that arose during this period. Special thanks must also go to Michelle Alvaro, BHVA site manager, who kept the Spyglass residents updated via frequent emails.  Thanks to all of you for being patient with the early start of the construction day.

Our water meters are still in the installation process. In June, a committee was formed to look into issues and concerns that residents may have.  The main objective of this committee is to look into equitable distribution of water and sewer billing for our residents as well as commercial usage.

Ron Shubert, our BHVA attorney, has had two very successful informal meetings with residents to discuss the writing of the Declaration.  He listened to all our comments.  These will be taken into consideration for further changes that may be needed.

Please attend the meeting on August 9th for the By-Laws revision and vote.  The final vote for the Declaration will be at the Annual Meeting in October.

Please note: Labor Day festivities will once again be on the beach this year.  Music will be by Meyer McGuire. Further updates will be forthcoming as the summer winds down. September’s Neighbors’ Night will be on Saturday the 27th at the Community Center with music by John Beck. BHVA will also be celebrating the 1st anniversary of our Community Center that same night. In conjunction with Neighbor’s night, BHVA will be celebrating the first anniversary of the new Community Center.  We look forward to seeing you on that special night.
